Bangladesh Wheelchair Sports Foundation (BWSF) organized 'WHEELCHAIR SPORTS TORNAMENT 2020' on Thursday, 1st October 2020 in Silverdale Preparatory & Girls High School’s field. Dr. Aminur Rahman Sultan (Deputy Director; Bangla Academy and Co-founder & Advisor, BWSF) was present as the Chief Guest on the opening ceremony. Md. Saidur Rahman Sarkar (Headmaster, Silverdale Preparatory & Girls High School) and Shama Afroz (Headmaster of Silverdale Preparatory School) were also present at the program as special guest. Md. Ashikur Rahman (Co-founder & Advisor, BWSF) presided over the ceremony.
The tournament had three sports event which are Wheelchair Race, Wheelchair Darts and lastly Wheelchair Carrom. 10 wheelchair players of different districts participated in the tornament in all three events maintaining social distance. The tornament was successfully completed maintaining social distancing. Along with these, we organized wheelchair basketball, wheelchair table tennis, and wheelchair badminton in the tournament for entertainment.
At the closing & prize giving ceremony, Nazma Khan Mojlish (Former Professor; Dept. of Islamic History & Culture, University of Dhaka) was present as the Chief Guest. Shaheli Tasima Firdous (Co-founder & Advisor, BWSF) was also present at the program as special guest. In chief guest’s speech, Nazma Khan Mojlish said, “We have also seen through this event organized by the Bangladesh Wheelchair Sports Foundation that entertainment cannot be a hindrance to entertainment. The government is quite enterprising in this matter. In addition to the government's patronage of such a great initiative of the educated youth of the country, I also call upon the wealthy people of the society to stand by them.”
