Bangladesh Wheelchair Sports Foundation (BWSF) maintaining social distance during this COVID 19 situation organized ‘Jatir Pita Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Para Sports Carnival 2021’ on 06-08 December 2021 at BPKS, Dhaka and Sheikh Russel Roller Skating Complex Ground in collaboration with National Paralympic Committee of Bangladesh. Bangladesh Wheelchair Sports Foundation (BWSF) organized the event bearing in mind three major occasions the 100 Years of Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, 50 Years of Independence of Bangladesh and 30th International Day for persons with disabilities. The sports carnival was done with the intention to improve para athlete’s game skills, physical and mental health conditions. In this sports carnival, 50 para athletes from all over Bangladesh participated in seven sports championships, which are ‘1st Para Badminton Championship’, ‘1st Para Darts Championship’, ‘1st Para Table Tennis Championship’, ‘1st Para Carrom Championship’, ‘1st Para Chess Championship’, ‘2nd Wheelchair Race Championship’ and ‘ 2nd Indoor Wheelchair Cricket Championship’. Among 50 para athletes, 42 men para athletes participated in the seven para sports and 8 women para athletes participated in four para sports.
In the closing ceremony, Mr. Md. Zahid Ahsan Russel MP, Hon'ble State Minister, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Govt. of the People's Republic of Bangladesh was the chief guest. He handed over the prizes to the champion and runner up athletes. In this time, the Hon'ble General Secretary of National Paralympic Committee of Bangladesh Engi. Md. Maksudur Rahman, Hon'ble Adviser of BWSF Dr. Aminur Rahman Sultan, Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, the country director of Max Foundation Bangladesh Engi. Imam Mahmud Riad and CEO & MD of NRBC Bank Limited Mr. Golam Awlia were present as the special guest.
